Wiring Ceiling Fan

Hi,

I just wondered if it was legally allowed to wire the live from a ceiling fan so the it is permanently wired in so it could be controlled independently to the light switch or if it was against the regulations?

I know how to do it, I just wondered if it was allowed.

The other half wants to be able to always control the light by the wall switch but control the fan without the switch on the wall being on.

We have high ceilings so only alternative is to have very long chains

Also when she goes to bed she doesn't want to have to switch the fan on and switch the light off by the chain, Lazy! Don't ask me

Not quite clear what you want to do but -

yes, of course, it is allowed.

Do you have a separate fan and light, or is it a combined item?
