Looks a bit of a mess.A few quick points:-

Possible under size earths on first pic

Incorrectly terminated armoured cable on incomer with single sheathed tails

Second pic

Horrible Bill 3 phase board with exposed feeder terminals + paxolin barriers missing

I could go on but I'm just about to put the kids to bed. Will look again later.

Did you spot the asbestos flash pads?
The bottom of the DNO cutout appears to be missing too.

As it is the DNO which is providing you with a supply it is really up to them to consider how the phases are ballanced, you should just end up with a single phase supply.

Who cares about that - they chap is buying the barn, and having the old supply removed. The feed to farm house is nothing to do with him when the sale completes.

He is having a brand new supply installed, single phase, by the DNO - balancing is not his problem at all.

Sounds like he is going to have a blank canvas, brand new supply, and brand new installation!

Assuming I have read correctly anyway!

Nah - you can only see the bottom half of the mirror image keyhole.

The nutral bars are at the bottom of they old boards ;-)

If I was removing something that contained asbestos I would rather know about it sooner rather than later!!

Just a word of caution to the OP.

I don't know if that bill DB is still live but if it is please exercise extreme care when the door is open.

Th DB is missing two paxolin sheilds to protect you from direct contact with the busbars.

I have highlighted the busbars which are live, and it is possible to accidentally touch two phases simultaneously on the top two.

Also be careful when pulling fuses as it is not unknown for the porcelain fuseholders to break when pulled.

And as mentioned the fuse holders and backing plates both contain asbestos flash pads.

I am indeed starting with a blank canvas. The supply to the barn will be ripped out and thrown in the skip - not before time!!! The new supply will be coming in at a different point.

Its still live alright. It runs temporary lights and sockets around the rest of the barn. This will all come out, every scrap of wiring, the minute the new supply goes in. Then its over to one of you clever chappies to put a new lot in...
