Farm Shops are doing rather well and on the increase. Is this the sign of white flight .The shopping experience in B'ham is awful, costs a wad to get there and back and takes forever. Going 15-20 miles into the sticks costs and take less time. Plus I get English foods supplied by the English.

Chances are it was harvested by cheap immigrant labour though! :D :D

Apart from the fact that everyone sticks to the rules :D

It raises an interesting though, there may be minimum hourly rate but what happens with piecework? Fruit picking is often paid by quantity picked and each type of produce takes a different amount of effort/time to harvest, anyone know?

They have to be paid the minimum wage but they can top that up if they're good pickets/cutters. When the seasons at its best they can earn £10-£12 an hour around here. Those jobs used to be done by British workers paid cash in hand but the last labour government put a stop to that.

Ok, there must of been a reason for Labours policy. If it was a mistake why not revise it or, remove it altogether ? Hard times these, plenty on the dole

I can't see a reason for any of Labour's policies, unless it is to destroy the country. They are not fit to govern.

doesn't answer the question. why not change it if it's no good ?

All political parties (at the behest of their corporate puppet masters) have a vested interest in bringing 'costs' down for businesses by turning the UK into a low wage 'sweatshop economy'...

And in turn the state subsidises said businesses by dolling out money from the public purse in the form of 'tax credits/benefits'...

This is simply because UK PLC has few resources, produces virtually nothing that other countries want, and is basically a service economy. The only 'assets' we have are people/slaves, so why would anyone 'invest' in this place unless those 'assets' could be exploited?

Strange thing to say when UK exports are at the highest they've ever been. What period are you comparing with?

Still doesn't answer the question tho. With all the unemployed why import others ? Who's policy is that ?

actually I reckon it's the employers pressing the govt.
Employers prefer skilled/willing labour.. wherever it comes from.. why train unemployed brits(black or white or any other) when they can import them pre-trained/willing to take very low wages and 0 hour contracts.
