Electric shower has been working well since fitted a year ago but now only runs cold. It is activated by means of a pull cord attached to the ceiling and then by a push button on the shower unit.
I have checked the fuse and have opened up the pull cord unit, both of which seem fine. The indicator light on the pull cord unit lights up. Any ideas?

Remove the fuse. Check the moving parts are not broken in the shower (some have a screw and "gearwheel" which come apart). Any obvious breaks or burns? Tighten all connections. Check the element. If you have a multimeter great; if not use a battery and lamp. No circuit = dead element = new shower. If element OK look at thermal cutout which may have a reset. Look at temperature stabiliser / over temp cut out. Next look at pressure cut-out switch (needs reset/stuck etc). There really isn't much else. Spares are generally expensive compared to cost of new shower bearing in mind that if one part has failed then the others may be suffering from old age, but may work out cheaper than replacement as no need to damage tiles etc.
Best of luck V
