I like 'Bugbear' because it's from the Old British languages (Welsh/Cornish) 'Bugaboo' meaning devil. Related to 'bogeyman'.

I also like 'sponge', 'moist' and 'emollient' for reasons I do not know why. Maybe there is something deeply psychological about why.

What are your favourite words?

edit: corrected spelling.

he he reminds me of a drinking game we used to play, where you went around the table trying to think up other names for money. Any repetition or made up ones and you had to down the drink. You could also substitute money for genitalia or womens wobbly bits. Curiously enough though we could never find any other subject matter where there was such a diverse amount of alternative terms!

Any word that is not a swear word or an obscenity, and which is used in a non-offensive context, that upsets the mods and highlights their timid, bowdlerising PC ignorance.

I saw a funny .sig once, basically a quote from Full Metal Jacket:

"If I am to die for a word, I want that word to be poontang"

Lager

Stella

Bevy

saw this funny .sig

"He not busy being born is busy dying." Bob Dylan I think

Richardp

"Yeyn yw hi" = it is cold .....

I was gonna say "facial" but after thinking for a moment I think it's got to be "positive". Every dad should know what I mean.
Cheers,
