I have to be honest, I'm not a royalist. There are quite a few things about the whole setup (including its history) that don't sit that well with me. Having said that, neither am I vehemently anti royal.

All that aside, the optics of this surely can't be good for the brand. Ok, they (both Fergie and Andrew) are family with the former marrying in, however surely after this revelation both of them will be further sidelined in terms of public appearances? It's certainly what should happen.

In decades gone by, institutions like royal families could largely brush much of their wrongdoings under the proverbial carpet. In the modern media age, it's less and less possible to do so. I for one think that's a good thing. An institution such as this should be fully transparent and accountable to us, the plebs they look down upon.
