Hi all,

Looking for some advice on the best way to fill and seal gaps around mains and boiler/heating pipework to help prevent insects or rodents from getting into the house.

The builders poured the screed but left a gap around the pipes and the plasterer didn't plaster where the mains pipe was in the way, so there are now various gaps and voids around the copper pipes where they come through both the floor and wall near the boiler/heating manifold.

Because of the pipe layout, we also can’t fit normal skirting boards in this area.

Photos attached.

What would people recommend to fill/seal the gaps and achieve a reasonably neat finish around the pipes?

Also would like to be able to hide this (while keeping easy access to the different parts) mainly to prevent risk of toddlers going in there and turning the knobs and levers.

Would appreciate recommendations on the best combination of materials and any neat finishing ideas others have used in similar situations.

Thanks!

Not very tidy that.

Think I would buy some spiral cable tidy sleeve and use on cables. You don't want them sitting against pipes.
You also need some pipe lagging insulation especially around the floor area so if you fill in floor the pipes will have some give.

I think i would use the cable tidy and lagging held with a few zip ties.
Then some low expansion foam. I would use a cheap foam gun Vs all in one cans and go slowly to keep it tidy. Build it by adding a bit every 15mins.
You can cut back foam carefully with dry if you want..

Tip. Have some foam cleaner to hand.
Don't dig or scratch the foam gun end. Use the foam cleaner but only when foam is wet. Foam cleaner don't work on dry foam.
Have a practice outside with foam gun. It's a simple job..

Is that a cupboard? Put a lock on. You have options.
Swap handle for a bathroom locking handle. That's easy as a straight swap. Child locks up high is another option
