Hi just installed a aluminium gate.
Due to the width of space I have had to use 10mm plywood to space the keep and the door. Everything is anchored in well.

With the gap between the wall and keep how would be best to fill this to keep the wood dry and make it look tidy? It seems a bit big for sealant?

? Foam gap filler and uPVC cloaking??

Get a batten (or whatever the doorset is made of) painted to match, and screw it to the wall, pressed against the frame but not fixed so any movement will slide rather than break.

If you want, you can inject expanding foam into the gap which will help hold it steady. The batten will protect it from sunlight degradation.

If you can't get a batten to match, you can fill with foam and use silicone sealant to protect it.

Can't you get some anthracite flat trim or angle... it should match the door colour & quality.

Looks a big joint to fill with silicon, but you can get this in anthracite, if that is the colour.

Thanks good thoughts
Think I will get some expanding foam and then cover with some anthracite trim then run soke.sealant around.

Any tips on using expanding foam? Masking tape and Stanley knive after?

If it’s a new gate, ask the manufacturer if they sell trim?
Or they might be able to give you the RAL code for the paint/ powder coat.

Hi thanks for advice filled the gap with foam followed by trim from eurocell and sealant.
Installed in time to beat the rain!
