I went to bassenthwaite lake today with kids ( I hate football).. had fantastic time. kids paddled, swam. we wished we had taken food with us since I had the barb b (that I had assembled earlier!!!) in the boot.

anyway... I assume you need a licence to fish there and I wanted to go back tomorrow.
The kids wont catch anything... I know this but I guess it isnt the point.
where do I get this licence from?
also, I have a river in my back garden which we own a stretch of (how ever river ownership works). We have the fishing rights for that stretch. I have always allowed my kids to fish on there... do I need a licence still?

yes you do need a rod licence for all freshwater fishing even if you own the fishing rights go online to national rivers authority you can purchase a licence and fish straight away hope this helps :D

thanks both.. I looked at the link, my 3 kids are 9 and under. so they will be okay tomorrow.
however... I am sorting out mine and hubs!

Surely you should at least try to catch some, rather than giving in and buying fish straight away?
