Fitting bike rack through dry wall

I'm trying to fit the bike rack in the pictures through drywall. I bought some nice long drywall screws as shown in the pic. The problem is the gap in between the drywall and the wall behind is too small to fit them.

I'm not sure what my best options are here but ideally i will have my bike vertical on the wall as this will take up the least amount of room. Perhaps the bottom tire can rest on the floor whilst the front tire is held on the wall and that panel is just held by normal drywall screws?

That's because it's not "drywall" or a hollow plasterboard partition wall. It looks like plasterboard dot-dabbed onto blockwork to me.

You want different fixings: Fischer dot dab or Corefix are made specifically for the purpose; but long screws and long wallplugs may suffice if they go into the blocks well enough.

Even plasterboard walls we'd recommend finding the timber verticals or cross-braces for fixing something heavy onto rather than a plasterboard fixing. Especially when subject to regular loading/unloading of objects onto it.

They have an internal collar which is designed to span between the outer plasterboard and internal blockwork, thereby spreading the load. They have a wide collar, when you tighten the screw it will not pull the plasterboard inwards

You originally used interset fittings, shorter ones may have worked, or may not have worked...

Other options, there are many... eg chemical fixings, GripIt, Timco Zip Fix.

It might help if you can determine the depth of the cavity.

You will also need a masonry drill bit, and a suitable electric drill.
