I'm hoping to install some new latches (the tubular type) into new doors - I'm planning on using one of these to bore into the door - are these the best bits, or would some auger style bit be better? Is there a standard size hole needed for this job too?
either or,both types can lead to trouble if you are not in total control of the drill,
the augur bit can pull itself into the door extremely quickly.not that ive ever done that before
yeah - thought if that on my way to the shop. Putting the latch next to the bits - 19mm would have been perfect, but they only stocked 18 & 20mm... so got the 20mm...
how does the 18 match up to the tube, you can always chisel the round hole a bit to fit the tube, I would have gone with the 18 enlarged the hole if necessary, slotted the latch in and the cut around the plate with a stanley.
