Hi

This may sound dumb but when fitting a shoe to a downpipe is it just a push fit or should it be glued? If glued is there a special glue for this?

If its just the bog standard polythene downpipe that you have, the shoe is usually just a push fit....no need to glue it as tiny leaks don't matter anyway. Its only when you try to interchange makes that you can run into trouble.
John :)

you should glue the shoe with solvent weld from a plumbing merchant or B&Q otherwise it will quickly come off.

Drill a small hole though the shoe and through the downpipe. Then screw them togehter, you can always get it apart in the future.

Hi

Thanks for replies. I think I'll go with the screw idea as this makes sense.
