Fitting Spotlight

HI Guys,
i would like to fit several individual downlights in a kitchen, but i have no access to the floorboard above. This ceiling is plasterboard. Can you suggest the various alternative ways of doing this. What about getting over joists?

these are much more suitable for kitchens.

If this isn't to your taste, Fit mains voltage downlighters and use GU10 compact fluorescent lamps.

These have much better light distribution than standard GU10 downlighters. The colour is better and you will feel better working under these. I have seen them in action next to standard ones and IMO, they are worth the extra cost.

The CFLs will last a fair bit longer and are cheaper to run too.

they are practically the same! yours looks less "domestic" IMO, because it lacks a diffuser!
