Hi all

Wife wants a vanity unit to replace the current pedestal basin in the bathroom.

Ive lifted the floor and there is a 50mm wall hanger/joist that runs behind the basin left to right directly along the external block the wall.

The vanity units seem to have a really tight tolerance for squeezing the waste and supply up the wall behind them. Sometimes only like 70mm.

How do you pro's get around this as with the joist and 32mm waste pipe il probably need 100mm minimum?

Does the waste pipe need to run below floor level ?
If so ,most cabinets have a void below the base shelf,in which you can alter the path the waste pipe takes, before going through the floor.

Waste currently goes under the floor yes.

Its a cabinet with drawers she wants. The bottom drawers always seem to go right back.

Shorten the drawers ,or buy a different cabinet that has space behind the drawers to accommodate the pipework.

Flexible wastes fitted after the trap can help but are more susceptible to damage/wear long term. Larger independent plumbers merchants often have displays and will advise on the issues you raise.

Blup

I think i might have figured it out. I hadnt factored in the approx 100mm below the bottom shelf where the plinth is.

If you imagine the waste currently coming up the pedestal, if i cut and solvent weld that at near floor level with a 45 angle, then to the wall and weld another 45 to a new vertical against the wall, then that should do the trick hopefully?
