fixed appliance on a plugtop

I'm not getting confused by the advice !!

It's those who cannot grasp the question

Is a fixed appliance illegal when fitted with a plug top!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeepers is that so difficult for everyone -except Davy- to comprehend??

Cheers

Richard
With that sort of attitude I'd be surprised anyone would want to help you!

Nor is it illegal to mount a condenser on a roof without fixing it down.

If you are unsure of advice from this forum then i'd suggest contacting the manufacturer for advice.

I asked here because this forum is filled with trade sparks skilled in UK electrical works and installations with the necessary skills/qualifications to match..

Only Davy actually addressed the question (thanks for that Davy) everyone else pontificated off topic with irrelevant 'advice'. -You being the latest and that's with the clarification post I added.....!!!

So by 'advice' what do you mean here exactly??

Cheers

Richard
Sorry wasn't being pedantic just offering advice as it seemed you were getting confused by the advice previously given. Asking a manufacturer rather than getting unsure answers was why i suggested contacting them.

You are being thoroughly unpleasant. If you were happy with Davy's reply, why did you keep insisting on repeating the question to others?

Ask a question here & you will get a multitude of answers because we're all looking at it from a different perspective. Why not just ignore those answers you do not find useful instead of ranting?

I'm glad I don't:

a: live with you or

b: work with you.

Your patience is severely limited.

I totally agree, but it is nice to secure any other peoples installations when you inherit them.

By 'help' what do you mean?

If someone had posted back with "Is it a blue condenser?" would you consider that help?
Personally that for me is as off topic as him posting "My van is blue".

(Sure it can be of interest to know that xx has a blue van but hey he could have posted that in the vehicle section.)

So call me off topic but thats not help it's deviation... So we're left with Davy who read the question interpreted it correctly and answered it. I accepted Davy's word but canvassed others opinion mainly to have his statement confirmed.

Sure we all drift but I feel it's the thread starters 'right' to attempt to steer it back. It's him/her who is after specific information relevent to his/her needs.

Cheers

Richard

but posting that the manufacturer could give you sound advice seems in your mind not to be relevant??! :?

Like electrical wholesalers they state "We're not electricians, for electrical advice consult a suitably qualified person"

So asking a Japanese manufacturer their opinion on UK electrical 16th Ed regulations will naturally illicit the above response

Ok now you've explained fair enough, personally my interpretation of the regs is that plugs should only be put on portable appliances and a "proper job" with fused spur unit should be used for fixed appliances.
