Hi

I've recently moved into an old tenemented flat. I've a variety of things that have to be fixed to the walls to stop them tipping. I've a big bookcase in the living room, because of the skirting (which I don't want to lose) and the slope in the floor there is a 4 inch gap between the frame and the wall. I was planning to screw in wall brackets to secure it to the wall but this is pretty unsightly. I also have another unit that needs secured but as I am likely to need access to the back of it from time to time so need a more temporary solution.

Any ideas or recommendations would be welcome!

Thanks

heeelllooo billyjones and welcome :D:D:D:D

a good solution often dependant on construction is a batton of wood tucked under the front edge and parralel to the front edge just lean the cabinet back measure the gap and make shure the wood is 1mm thicker than the gap so it pushes against the wall

this method isnt realy sutable for large gaps as the lean will look wrong unless its to counteract a slope on the floor

if theres no front part or its not structural you can taper the wood and support the front half of the sides
