This particular unit has a button on each probe that when both are pressed puts a small load on the circuit - this will quench any of these coupled voltage anomalies.
Ah ok, I understand. So the small load absorbs the energy rather than it leaking to earth? Had I used plastic channel as opposed to steel, might I have not got the problem? I
have also noticed that the voltage measured varies. First thing yesterday it was <1v AC and after a mornings work in the room, it rose to nearer the 20v AC I recorded: I am guessing that this is just demonstrating the capacitive effect of what is going on?
