I would like a wooden exterior gate to go between me and my neighbors property

In the pic, my property is labelled 2 and the neighbors is labelled 1

What I would like to know is how i can erect the wooden gate (and lock) without drilling into the neighbors wall?

I own the land with the passage way

1. Dig a post down and concrete in position next to your neighbours wall.
2. recognise its probably a party wall and execute your right.
3. attach a post to the fence post a bit further along
4. use a no-nails or gorilla glue type product

combine 1 and 4.

Many thanks

Not sure whether it makes a difference but all of the walls are not party walls.

as an aside
if its your neighbours fence you need permission to attach to it

The pic i uploaded isn't the best

However, I do not plan on attaching anything to the fence

The gate will between the two external walls (i.e. 1&2). It wont touch the fence

The only thing I am concerned about is that the neighbour has has some sort of cable and this may be in the way when i dig the post. It can be seen on the lower left hand side of the pic

Also another neighbour has a satellite dish and it is possible that the wooden gate may affect its reception. But i'll have a word with them about this

Fix a post to your house and hang the gate on it.
Dig a hole for a wooden/metal/concrete post and use postcrete - if necessary away from the neighbour but close enough to stop someone being able to slip past.
You may want to get a gate made that is the correct width rather than add timber to your house to make up the gap and make the gap too narrow.

I would talk to the neighbour about it anyway, as that cable will be in the way, rather than notch and trap the cable it would be better diverting the cable along a suitable path.
