Flag dynamics

I would say no - just as I would say that we should not 'abandon' (or 'ban') cars, kitchen knives, screwdrivers etc.etc. just because a tiny minority of the population use them as weapons!

There's a bit of a difference between practical items, tools, etc which we all need but can be misused, and a flag.

The pole, is a surplus carbon fibre caravan awning pole. That is then 'hinged' at it's base, onto a washing pole, and the washing pole welded on top of a scaff pole. The fibre pole, plus flag, can be raised, or lowered via a rope. The top of the flag, is rigidly fixed to the top of the carbon pole. The whole, puts the flag at a height of around 7m high, and is at the highest part, at the very back of my garden, attached to my rear fence.
From the gov.uk site.

  • there are no restrictions on the size of the flag, but any flagpole may not exceed 4.6 metres above ground level.

The regulations governing the flying of flags in England are set out in the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) Regulations 2007 (as amended in 2012 and in 2021).

OOO that's a bit shorter than I thought

I read it as 4.6m, and I ignored the rule, based upon the railway company having cleared their land at the far side of my rear fence, and bulldozed a continuous mound of earth, all the way along the fence, 3m high. My pole is some 4m, higher than the top of the earth.

Excellent result:D:unsure::whistle:

On the wrapping thing I have a 45 degree angle pole for the front of the house at bedroom level and I made it from 22mm white overflow pipe with a brass door knob on the end it plugs into a holder when I put it out. Its can swivel top and bottom but I find when it gets wet it likes to stick to itself or the pole - despite the swivel. I usually open a bedroom window and unwrap it with a stick

He said whilst flying a flag in his avatar

Yup, and I'm quite happy to say what statement I am making by doing that.

Outside of sporting events, what statement are most fliers of the cross of St. George making, do you think?

Well, again, it's a fairly small minority who 'spoil' it

But that minority is supported by the mods in their attempt (which is therefore successful) in silencing and driving away voices that they do not want to be heard.

If you are not some or all of these

Racist
Xenophobic
Transphobic
Islamophobic
Anti-immigrant
Anti-asylum seeker
Sexist
Right wing
Brexit supporter
Illiberal
Climate change denier
Anti-20mph speed limits
Anti-low emission zones
Anti-low traffic neighbourhoods
Anti-BBC
Anti-TV Licence
Pro Israel

and especially if you argue against people who are, you'll not be welcome there. The final straw for me came when the mods started locking me out of threads I'd never posted in, so desperate were they and their extremist clients to not have anything spoil their echo-chamber.

That's all Incorrect.
We don't care about your views at all only whether you break the rules.
Read the rules. If you break them persistent you can be locked out of multiple or all threads or sections.
That includes for too much trolling.
