OK, not sure if this is the right place to ask, but, maybe somebody has experience with this. My loft room is just over 200cm high. There is no chance of getting a wardrobe up the stairs, so it is a flatpack job. But, I want to use the full height of the room, so won't be able to build the wardrobe laying on the floor and lift up.

Any brands that are built in situ? Wontering if a fitted wardrobe would be worth the extra investment..... but, ideally want to save money and get something for around £500. Got 2m wide space.

you cannot use the full height you need wiggle room
the maximum is around 12mm less than the smallest gap assuming the floor and ceiling are 100% flat and parallel but that assumes the unit is in 2 parts in its height

You could fit built in wardrobes cheaper than buying flat pack for a small space, install the internals and make up doors, or you may be able to get ikea doors to fit.

It would be almost impossible to make up any wardrobes in the upright position to full ceiling height because they generally use the cam-lock fittings which would be inaccessible when tightening. You would need a bit of room to even get a small screwdriver above and below and help holding the structure at an angle.
having said that, depending on the design, you might be able to swap the base for the top and have the camlocks on the inside but it's just a guess.
