Just wondered if I should use the flexi type of fitting under the floor on heating pipes. do they stand up to the heat and pressure over time?

I know people use the pex pipes, but i don't trust them from what I've heard from people that have had failures. My thinking is that a soldered joint or compression will leak within a few days if its going to, but the speed-fit can just fail for no apparent reason.

I have actually done the job with all soldered joints, so academic really, just wondered if I could have cut corners a bit with the tight bends and cross overs etc

Well it's best not to cut corners, but Smith's plinth heaters and hydronic fires come with compression flexi's and they seem to last long enough. I wouldn't want them on view though. And you can't just use any flexi it has to be designed for heating.

Kickspace heaters usually installed with flexis. They do block up with magnetite very easily though. For this reason, I always fit a valve above the flexi, so that it can be removed without draining the whole system to clean or replace the flexis.

2 good points i had not considered, but means its possible though . I make sure its rated for heating systems, and fit a valve either side (if used for both flow and return).

Could have saved myself a bit of time there if I'd known.

Thanks for your advice.
