Not impressed with this

........installed two and a half years ago and connected to a tap on a pedestal washbasin. Fortunately it 'split' on a Saturday morning when we were in and heard the water rushing . It was installed in a downstairs cloakroom. Non the less a considerable quantity of water was discharged via the split before we realised.

The connector followed a gentle curve and was not kinked or twisted. It looks like the braid has unravelled and then the rubber pipe inside has inflated like a balloon until it split.

Is this a common occurrence? should I be worried about the others? I would have been horrendous if the split occurred whilst we were out.

Indeed its a dreadful sight and one we all dread!
Maybe the flexy was 'injured' before it was installed - who knows?
I try to use WRAS approved gear but I've no real idea if there's any difference.
John :)

A failed flexible oil line could be even more devastating!

I always replaced them with PTFE lined high pressure braided hoses.

It's a common problem with them. Pro Plumbers like our goodselves don't use them.

Possible woman covering it in bleach to clean it, causing the rubber to rot ? ?.
