Floor grout discoloured

I have laid a stone floor and used white grout in the kitchen. this was done in 2008. So a yr and a half later and the grout is very discoloured.

is there anyway to restore the grout to its original white eg toothbrush and bleach?

in the conservatory the grout is still lovely and white as we dont use that room as much.

if i do have to regrout, how do i cut out this grout? plus what other colour could i use. what about a sandy brown colour as this will not show the dirt up as much.

Never, ever use white grout on floors, as you’ve discovered it discolours very quickly. Grey works with most tile colours & dark brown matches lighter brown tile shades well. There are various guides & potions available on/for bleaching grout but I’ve no personal experience of doing it, if it works or lasts any length of time. If you want to change the colour, it’s down to some hard work with a grout rake & then re-grout with a more suitable colour; use a quality trade grout, not the cheapo DIY shed stuff.

no grey hides the staining better.

you can buy a purpose designed tool or improvise with something you have at hand.not a job i would jump at.

when you come to re-grouting look into the mapie range they will have a colour to suit your colour of tile.
