Floorboards

As i am currently renovating my house all the floorboards in the house have got very dirty/dusty a hoover seems to have not much effect shifting this stuff, can anyone recommend something that will clean all my floorboards before i get carpets layed?

Sounds like dust/dirt in wax (through) maintenance layer.
Try cleaning a small area with white spirit.

if your floorboards are dusty why worry if you are going to be having carpet?
