Flow Reducer/Restrictor

Is there anything I can do to get the right regulator cartridge? I know I need about 30-50% reduction but have no idea what flow rate that equates to.

Is this really an accurate method:

  1. Measure the volume of the bucket or container
  2. Find a location along the stream that has a waterfall
  3. With a stopwatch, time how long it takes the waterfall to fill the bucket with water
  4. Record the time it takes to fill the bucket

So if I fill a 1 litre container in 10 seconds, that's 6 litres per minute.

But it would be a good indication? So say I have 10 l/m from my basin mixer tap, I can go for either 4 or 6 l/m regulator. If I get 15 l/m from the basin mixer tap 4 or 6 l/m would be 2 thirds reduction.

Likewise if I'm only getting 6 l/m at the moment, I don't want a 6 l/m regulator!

Buy several cartridges they're only cheap. It's in the off position where you change them, just make sure they're the right way round so they work and you can hook them out.
