Just replaced the fluorescent light bulb in my cupboard under the stairs but it is not coming on fully(see attached photo).I have checked that the bulb is correct wattage and voltage.Gave it a tap which led to one end turning white from orange. Can this be a fault with the bulb which is new or something else?

Please post a photo of the label or other markings, if any, on the old tube and on the fitting.

Starters are only integral with a 2 pin lamp.As yours is 4 pin its either running an electronic ballast that dont need a starter or has a starter behind the white plate

looking at your pic them two plastic lugs to the right of the label look like the mounting clips for the starter holder

Sorry maybe there the connection block actually

I have had great success with Integral brand low profile (48mm) "bulkhead" LED fittings.

I've fitted 6 upstairs of varying sizes since between 2019 and 2022 and 5 of them get a lot of use and they're great.
