fluorescent light with no starter has stopped working

One of my light fixtures has stopped working... Anyone know how to fix these? Both lamps stopped working at the same time, I tried replacing with new lamps to see if that was the problem (it wasn't). It's wired in series with another light and that still works fine so the wiring is not the problem...I can check connections with a multi meter though.

Do they just have a lifespan? These are prob 10years old plus.

That's a high frequency ballast which will have failed.
 
They are not in series (hopefully), they are in parallel.

You can get replacement ballasts. Sometimes the fault is dry joints on the PCB inside the ballast that can easily be fixed with the aid of a soldering iron.

Some of these fittings have an internal fuse on the connector block. Worth checking that before getting a new ballast.
