Focus 1.6 Zetec 1999-Knocking noise on air con

When i switch my blowers/air con on or off i get a knocking noise for about 5 seconds and then it stops. My air con does not blow cold air and must be something to do with this noise. Does anyone know what the problem is and how much it is likely to cost?


Would Appreciate anyones help!!

hi mine was like that and it as like a helicopter, it was bad, i would get it regassed and that should solve the prob, first check that it blowing hot air. if that is fine then it will need regassing , about £45+ vat ish depends where you go, smal garages are the cheapest.

Thanks for that yeah it does blow hot air, just not cold

is it a clicking/knocking noise coming from behind the dash?? if so its probably the recirculation/blend motor. this controls the flaps behind the dash that divert air ans select hot/cold. was a common fault on the older focus. part around 45 quid iirc.
