I going to replace both sides strut upper rubber bush and bearing.

Is it any use putting the new bearings in a tub of motor oil for 24 hours to get them well lubricated? .... I don't know if they're a sealed unit or not.

I'm well impressed with the size of the bearings considering the weight they support.

I dont use oil, but with bearings like these I force as much grease in as I can, and then apply more around the gap between the two halves to keep the water out.
After that, they are on their own!

Thanks John!

Grease it is then!

I can use either bearing grease or CV grease cause I've got a tub of both.

CV grease is very sticky stuff.

It sure is!
I should have also said, I use red rubber grease if the bearing outer comes into contact with a rubber pad - as per Peugeot etc.

Yep, rubber grease had occurred to me from a comment you made some time ago about using rubber grease on suspension bushes I think it was.

I suppose I could use ceramic brake grease since that's rubber friendly.

Thanks!
