Ford transit 2.0 2003 model struggling to start

i have had this for a while and have never had problems till now i can hear something rattling like in the hood, could this be plugs? sometimes i have to go a few times until it starts but today its too cold and cant kick. The dash light all light up ok what could this be.

Best if you can get another vehicle alongside with a pair of jump leads, I think.....make sure the other vehicle has its engine running as you try for a start.
