Former gas engineer sentenced

Interesting story, his gas safe expired 5 months earlier and then he did an unsafe flue installation. I agree he broke the law, but did the rules for fitting flues change in those 5 months or did he just forget everything on becoming unregistered? Or did they fail to mentioned that he was struck off for dangerous work?

I think the gas safe bit is fairly irrelevant, the prosecution would be on the dangerous condition.

But he was charged with breaching 3(3) and 3(7), both of which do relate to Gas Safe registration.

The other one, 26(1), was to do with the dangerous work.

Strange post, where did the AR bit come in ? if a second installer classed it as AR when did it become ID ?

Agree with the above, my confusion was if he was a time served gas fitter 5 months earlier why on earth didn't he just do the work properly? Did something change in that time, or was he doing substandard work the whole time?

It's the question I ask every time I see a bad job John it's far easier to do it right first time then have to keep going back to fix it. I hope he's learnt his lesson.Bob

He cannot of been that great to start with.Not only did he not do it right first time,he still could not get the flue correct after several visits!..It aint that difficult.

V much seems so.Its really not rocket science fitting a flue correctly.
