Wierd one this.

Have a kitchen that is 5 years old. In just one area the formica bench has gone "sticky" and lost its hard, sealed feel.

Was convinced that it must be something stuck on the formica but having cleaned it with all sorts of household cleaners and then washed it with paint thinners with no real improvment, am begining to wonder.

Can formica degrade like this in such a short space of time?

Cheers

Sorry this turned out to be a red herring

Finally got the courage of my convictions and took wire wool and domestic cleaner to it and gave it a severe talking-to!

It came up fine and clean and back to normal. It was "crud" built up over the years in the "dimpled" parts of the Formica finish that caused the sticky feel
