French electric appliances in England

Hazeldene

I have a Whirlpool built-under oven in a house in France which I want to bring home and install in England. It has been removed from the housing and the cable has the normal brown, blue and green/yellow wires. Will it be OK to install it to a British cooker point (in combination with an induction hobo already fitted.) I assume the oven was made in France (or somewhere in Europe) as it has French labels to the various knobs and functions. As it was already in situ in France I do not have an instruction book and cannot find a serial no. on the oven

Yes, you can...depending on the power consumption of the appliance depends on whether it can have a fused plug or hard wired connection......it sounds like the latter with yours.
John :)

Thanks very much for that John. Now all I have to do is get it in the car, bring it home and find a qualified electrician! Wasn't sure if it was worth it until I read your reply.

It will be fine, unless we vote to leave the EEC!
After that point I expect there will be an amnesty period when you will have to hand in any goods that were made by johnny foreigner.
UK factories will start making incandescent light bulbs again too!

An electric tramp?

Thanks securespark and EFLImpudence, so I made a typo! This was my very first post to this forum and I couldn't find out how to correct it after posting. Was there really any need to make fun of my error? I was embarrassed enough without your humour!
