The little red link in X4 is removed and the two thermostat wires connect to the two vacant terminals. The little drawing on the boiler shows the switch of a remote thermostat.

Some thermostats are battery operated in which case the two wires are all you need, but if the thermostat requires a 230V mains supply to provide it with operating power then that comes from the same source as X1

If you had a hot water cylinder before and have just changed to a combi, most people notice the same thing. A combi can take longer to get hot water to the taps as it's produced on demand rather than having a pre-heated tank full of hot water and ready to go. It may also be that the boiler is further away from the tap, so the hot water takes longer to reach its destination. I saw an installation where originally a hot water cylinder was in the bathroom and it took 3 or 4 seconds for hot water to get to the basin tap. After changing to a combi it took four times longer for it to come from the combi boiler downstairs. The owners were unhappy that they had finished washing their hands before they got any hot water.
