Hi
I have a fridge freezer in the garage outside, it is a wooden garage detached from the house which doesn`t have heating!
The problem is the freezer part switches off in cold weather, my theory is the thermastat switches off due to the drop in the tempeture, but the one who must be obeyed is not convinced.
it has been working fine before the cold spell we are in now, could this be the problem????
thanks

What do you mean by switches on & off? It is perfectly normal for a freezer to cycle on/off & in cold conditions it is likely the compressor will be running less often than in warm ones. Does your freezer have a thermometer or other temp. indication, if so what is the inside temp. & does it keep the food frozen? If it is ok then I would not think you have a problem.

the control is probably on the fridge section

this will cause the problem you have its a well known problem

basicly the fridge demands between +1 to +8degrees usualy in the middle at +4 degrees

as the temperature in the fridge is ok the compressor will never work untill

{A} you warm up the garage to above the fridge thermostat
{B} you turn the thermostat lower and have a frozen fridge
{C} move to a warmer area [idealy above 12degrees]
{D} buy a fridge freezer with 2 thermostats{some frost free for example]

Thanks for the replies guys
The thermostat is in the fridge compartment!!
the outside does seem to affect this appliance......... I think I will have to store the beer in the kitchen fridge in future and buy a stand alone freezer for the garage and hope this solves the problem.
now its the washer not working which happens to be next to the fridge freezer in the garage
I will have to sit her down and explain the weather conditions issue with the garage appliances.
thanks guys :D
