Fridge problem

Hi. My fridge is making a sound as though it is coming on, but then seems to go off. No the usual humming continuos noise. Any ideas what's wrong. It's a built in one approx 10 years old. Thanks

I guess the million dollar question is......is the fridge getting down to temperature?

I have it set to 2, but it keeps flashing more than usual if we open the fridge. If that makes sense!

Make & model might help, how long since you last defrosted it or is it a frost free one.

It's frost free, but does get build up of ice at the back of fridge. Make is Bosch, can't see model no as built in - freezer at bottom
