My friedland door bell, powered by a transformer in my consumer unit has stopped working. The transformer used to hum but now no sound. I'm waiting for an electrician to test.
The door bell unit has space for batteries. Can I use batteries and leave the transformer out of the loop?
I have tried connecting one of the twin wires to connection points 0 and 1 but no joy. Also tried the same with the other twin wire.
I am assuming that if I want to use batteries only, then the wiring would need to come directly from the bell push and not go via the transformer. Is that correct?
Thanks.
