Hi!

I was wondering if someone can help and sorry if you have answered this kind of question before!

I have been trying to figure out the wiring on some switches at a new place we have just moved in to and it has me stumped.

Whats there at the moment is 2 switches at either end of the hall and 2 lights. As the first light/switch didn't do anything I decided to check to see if it was the wiring behind this switch and when I took off the face plate it turned out that there were 2 x 2 core cables coming in to this switch but the reds had been joined with a connector and then the blacks wired in to the switch.

So, I decided to check the other end of the hall it behind that switch and there were 3 x 2 core wires with 1 wired in to the switch (1 way switch) and then the other 2 wired together in a connector (both reds and both blacks).

I know this is a big question but.... any ideas on how to fix this / how it should be wired?

Thanks for any help or advice you can give!

Thanks for the advice! Have had a look through but can't see anything there that matches up with what i've found behind the 2 sockets here so any other advice you could give you be muchly appreciated!

I hoped that the Wiki may have held an answer for you - I think most people seem to miss it when first posting.

Sorry but I am not qualified to answer your question, I am sure somebody with the required knowledge will be along shortly

Please post a picture of the wiring connected to both switches - I cant grasp what you are saying from your description.

You are asking for advice to fix it yet you do not actually say what is wrong with it, just how it is currently wired ?? :D
