Hi,

Currently in our kitchen we have a fused spur switch (looks like this) which controls a straightforward light outside above our back door entrance.

Is there an "easy" way to change this to an ordinary light switch, so I could make it "smart" using a smart light switch, as smart fused switches don't seem to be much of a thing?

The "fused spur switch" (FCU) is there to provide a lower amperage fuse for a circuit, such as lighting. Lighting only requires a fuse of 5 or 6 amps because of much thinner wiring and more tender circuitry!
Without it, the lighting could have 32amps coming at it under fault conditions and that would instantly fry anything in its path!
So the fuse has to stay. You could connect your smartswitch to the output of the FCU. That means perhaps sinking another box in the wall

Alternatively you could find a mains feed for your switch from the lighting circuit.
