and if she used Hammerite, the rust will have continued to grow under the paint (it does that with Hammerite) although calipers are very thick so it probably doesn't matter. Hammerite gets very brittle under heat.

Hammerite just covers rust up so you can't see it, and makes it very difficult to repaint one day. On thin steel like car bodywork, the paint will still be there in 5 years, but the steel will have gone.
