Garage below bedroom

Hi

Just mulling over potential ideas for a two storey side extension (a garage or car port on the bottom and a bedroom above it)

if I were to go with the garage idea (rather than a carport open on three sides), with regards to the garage aspect, would it be a matter of the builder building a cavity wall from the foundations up, but without the insulation in it and then just starting the insulation from the point it becomes a bedroom on the second floor?

Just weighing it up, costs wise

Be easier just to build a cavity with insulation all the way up.
But add ceiling/floor insulation

Depends what you want. If width in the garage is important then that could be done single skin and a timber frame construction used above. Loads of options
