Can I wire a light switch from a 13amp power socket to operate a light in my garage ?

You can spur off the socket into a switch fused spur. Put in a 5amp fuse to bring the amp rating down and then you can connect to your light from this.
As long as the existing socket isn't already a spur.
Is this really relevant when talking about a light or two ?
Are you doubting the relevance of BS7671?
