No I don’t consider cigarettes safe.
However until legislation changes and cigarettes are banned, they will be sold.

And the same applies to B&Q selling type AC RCDs.

Question. Do you consider AC RCDs unsafe?
I will accept that you wouldn’t install one in a new install. However does that mean every home, building etc that has them fitted, is now unsafe?

They are no more unsafe than not having a RCD and I lived without RCDs for most of my life.

Obviously a fitted RCD, no matter what type, is a major step up in safety, than not having one at all.

There is the risk of the RCD tripping and plunging the workshop into darkness while the saw blades are still spinning.

Better to have two RCBOs

There is also a risk of there being a complete and sudden power cut, which would have a similar effect.
