Garage sockets and lighting - how to run 3 core & earth

Yes ,both one gang ,two way switches.
The cable joining both lights would need to carry neutral, switched line, and earth. So yes ,twin and earth cable.
That’s good to know, I did think the light switches I have originally suggested were correct

I am going over lots of guides to understand where to connect the terminals on the light switches and between the 2 lights

A picture of the wiring at the other switch you found would be useful.

Latest diagram, the light switches have a cable in place but I am unable to work out what type of light switches I need and where to connect all the 3 core & earth plus the live neutral and earth from the lighting circuit
The first of these three diagrams is the one that you need to look at.

Your power supply of Two core +E to one of the light switches.
Three core +E between the two light switches.
And then from one of the light switches you need two core +E to the two lights.

A picture of the wiring at the other switch you found would be useful.

I will take one when I re-visit next week

It‘s got the following to it:

2 core & earth, red & black, from the supply

3 core & earth, red, blue & yellow linking to the other switch which I have successfully continuity tested

There may be a junction box somewhere where the permanent live ,switch cable ,and neutral originate from,or possibly they are in a terminal block within one of the light fittings.

How about this diagram, is it correct so far?

It is ok,other than the fact that the black and red cable doesn't come directly from the breaker ,and there is no neutral present.

I’ve added some more to the diagram what do you think ?

Completely wrong. The black wire in the cable which also has a red wire is not a neutral. That cable is the switch cable, red wire brings voltage to the switch ,and the black wire takes voltage up to the light fitting/s, it is the switched live.

I’ve tried to make a new diagram based on what I saw on this link, the video only has 1 light so my diagram is probably still not right

Your diagram represents one way of doing it. Unfortunately it doesn't fit what you currently have. The current cable ( with black and red wires) that goes to the switch that you recently found does not have a neutral conductor, as is depicted in your diagram.
You would need to do a lot of rewiring if you want to wire up as that diagram.
You really don't need to do that.
You currently have a working set up ,as I understand it,so besides fitting new switches and running a new length of 3 core and earth ,what else are you trying to achieve ?

The objective was two fold

To understand the existing layout and then replace the cabling

And to understand how to run it all from scratch

I appreciate all the assistance on this it’s really helped me, the homeowner wants to have the wiring replaced entirely so I’ve got my electrician visiting next week to check the incoming feed to work out where it’s coming from and make any change’s necessary to let me run new wiring with the current colour codes

Anyone reading this in the future these diagrams will help
