My garden tap hose connection thread has an outside diameter of 22.9mm/0.9". What thread is this? It doesn't seem to tie up with any sizes I can find. I want to fit a hoselock adaptor but not the universal clamp on type. If I can't find an adapter then I will probably replace the tap.

22.9mm/0.9" sounds like it will be '3/4 inch thread' - although your measurment is a lot smaller than I would expect. << see below where I correct this on cheching tables.
You could try this as I would have thought it should fit.
But yes you might have to ge a new tap.

Yes, the measurements seemed a bit odd to me. I measured the thread with digital verniers so the figures should be pretty accurate. They don't seem to tie up with any threads I can find. A think a new tap could be the way to go as it will take standard adapters which I have loads of.
How old is the tap?
There is 5/8 inch BSP that has a thread diameter of 22.99mm / 0.902"

Yeap, our garden tap has a 5/8" thread, took me ages to find a suitable adapter ( 10 yrs ago.....) not very common but they do exist
