Hi,

We just bought a house and in the info pack there's an invoice dated 2002 from a corgi engineer titled 'tested gas and electrics to cooker'. It goes on to say 'advised miss x cooker not fitted to latest specification (cooker tube loop and stability brocket not fitted)'. When you first turn the oven on it smells a bit gassy but then is fine. Are these related and are either of great concern?

Cheers!

What's a brocket? Seems like hose fitted in the hot zone and BRACKET/ chain not fitted. It's not really an issue. Does the cooker light after a few attempts? Gas escaping will be normal until the flame lights.

Cool bit of peace of mind. She seemed fairly sound so I assume if there were any major issues so would have had them fixed. Yep cooker fine once it's lit.

Cheers

Though like every other gas appliance, it needs to be serviced or at least a gas safety check done on it every year. Get a GSR engineer in to test and certify. Fifty odd quid for peace of mind, cheap at twice the price!
