Gas pipe rules

Hello all.

I just wonder if someone could tell me the rules about DIY with gas pipes after the meter? Has all work got to be done by a corgi chap or atleast checked by a corgi person? I might be getting confused with the electrical world but I thought I read somewhere that work can be done by anyone but the moment monies are charged for services, the person doing the work has to be qualified......

Competent is the word DP
