Hi

On a gas valve (in a boiler) the older type had standard, diaphragm type (possibly could be range-rated) - but a lot of newer ones have modulating gas valves - where more or less current to the modulating solenoid opens/closes the gas valve more or less, as required.... basic question: to alter the modulating valve between minimum/maximim range's do you need to remove the solenoid connections to check minimum setting (2 nuts to adjust if required in total) ?

I know a lot of the new boilers (a rated) used ZPG's also

Sorry, anything regarding gas can only be answered in 'the combustion chamber pot'. That is where the great & the good hang out, apparantly??!!

Usually remove one to check min. setting, but on some valves this will set to max. The mi's will take you through the proccess for your particular boiler step by step....a million times more use than we are allowed to be on here.
