Hi I wonder if anyone can give me abit of advise .
The drive gates at the back of my house are falling to bits and are in serious need of replacing , the opening is around 8 ft so 2 x 4ft gates , ideally I would like the gates to be around 7ft high ,
Now I have a load of 2,4 meter decking boards that I would like to use for the job but in a quandary as to which posts to go for as im assuming these would be very heavy once up ,
Would wooden posts hold the weight of a heavy set of gates made from deck boards or would concrete be the way to go if so any ideas of were to get them from as I can only seem to find the slotted ones
Thanks for taking the time to read .hope anyone can help
regards

Timber posts will be fine but you'd need to use at least a 6'' post or an 8'' concreted in at least 2 feet.

Thanks very much for that , ill do that , il just have to see if I can source some now . Thanks again
