Hi Folks

My daughter has some final GCSE exams next week but unfortunately she as fallen ill last night, and may not be well enough to go to school on Monday.

Is there a possibility that her exams can be rearranged or does it depend on the policies of the individual schools?

Thanks

The arrangement of "quarantine " is possible. The pupil unable to attend the exam on the day is kept isolated from pupils who have taken the exam until able to take the exam. Normally quarantine is used when the pupil has two exams at the same time and has to take one later than the scheduled time.. In these situation the isolation lasts for a few hours at most.

It maybe that the school will trust the parents to keep the pupil isolated over night from those pupils who have already taken the exam. But that is unlikely given the ease of communication using mobile phones and internet devices making it difficult for parents to isolated their child.

All you can is phone the school on Monday, and check the policy they have in place.

Contact the school as soon as possible and ask to speak to the Examinations Officer.
There will be a policy in place, and that can depend on the individual examination board (there are several) and the weighting of course work to the actual sit down exam.
It's possible that a predicted grade could be accepted, or even the exam presented at home, as noseall mentions.
John :)
